Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG)
The Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG) comprises Rotarians from 43 countries with a passion and commitment to alleviate the plight of over 1.2 billion people lacking access to safe water and 2.4 billion people without adequate sanitation. WASRAG is dedicated to the Millennium Development Goal of reducing these numbers by 50% by the year 2015. It achieves its goals through membership drawn from 32,000 Rotary clubs. Rotary clubs belong to Rotary International -- the world's largest service club organization in which more than 1.2 million members volunteer their time and talent to further the Rotary motto, Service Above Self.
As the lead NGO partner, WASRAG will join with thousands of volunteers across the U.S. to support the Tap Project. In Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco the U.S. Fund for UNICEF has appointed Tap Project Volunteer City Coordinators to help coordinate local efforts and WASRAG volunteers are encouraged to connect to unify campaign efforts. For contact information on Volunteer City Coordinators, go to www.tapproject.org.
WASRAG members may also be available to support activities in your community as speakers on water and sanitation issues. If interested, contact tapproject@rogers.com.
If you are a Rotary member, tell your club about WASRAG's role as the lead NGO partner in the Tap Project. If you know a Rotary member, please share information with them about the campaign and encourage them to get involved.
